Does your home have a corner crying out for a one-of-a-kind chair to help decorate it? How about one that is an original creation by an aspiring artist at Sant Bani School who someday might be world-renowned for their works of art?
Sant Bani School’s art department chair, Ann Saunderson, began a project recently that has evolved into a wonderful display of thought-provoking “chair art.” Art students have been diligently working to create art from old well-used chairs. The finished products will amaze you. Students have been given free rein in order to make their chairs uniquely their own piece of work.
And to help raise money for the school’s art department, the students have agreed to auction their creations off. To view these art pieces and to place a bid on one or more, please visit the school’s website at www.santbani.org and follow the link to the on-line auction.
Saunderson’s criteria for the project were to create a chair for a famous artist that he or she would love to sit in. The goal was not to copy the artist’s style but through researching the artist, his life, and work, create a chair that would be meaningful to him or her. The materials and methods were totally up to the students.
Sant Bani School, is deeply invested in both the visual as well as the performing arts. The program allowed the time, space, and attention for a project of this wide scope. All proceeds go directly to the school’s art department to help fund further projects such as this.
