For the second time in six months Rod, James, and Mark Roy have made a significant donation to a local youth football organization. The brothers presented $650 to the Newfound Youth Football program before the team played the Laconia Sachems Middle School on Saturday.

in May, the Roy brothers donated all brand new home and away jerseys for the Laconia Middle School team. Asked how they were able to make the donations, Rod Roy said “We organized a youth football camp in July through the Laconia Parks and Recreation Department. The cost was $50 per child and we forgo any type of payment for our coaching services and donate the money to a local football organization. We contacted Newfound head Coach Jim Tisdale (a Sachem’s alum) about bringing his kids down and he was more than happy to do so. We thought it only right that his organization share in the rewards.”

Pressed for more information on the camp, Rod Roy said, “The camp is a win-win situation for any kids who want to participate. They get an extra week of quality football instruction and we (the coaches) aren’t opposed to supporting the organizations whose kids support the camp. We will continue to run the camp for as long as we are able, and then turn around and support local youth football organizations with the proceeds.”

Anyone wishing to get information on the Laconia Parks and Rec. football camp can call Rod Roy at 524-8402 or call the Laconia Parks and Recreation office and speak with Amy.
