A snowmobile accident off Gilford Avenue sent a 38 year-old Rhode Island woman to Lakes Region General Hospital Wednesday afternoon.
According to a statement released by Gilford Police, Lisa Dupont of Bristol, Rhode Island, was operating a 1991 Mach1 Ski-Doo on the snowmobile trail south of Gilford Avenue near Saltmarch Pond Road. Dupont was reportedly riding with family when she struck an object on the trail, causing her snow machine to veer off the trail and into a tree.
Police indicated that Dupont suffered a laceration to her right shin caused by striking part of her own machine.
