BELMONT — Registration is now underway for Lakes Region Girls Softball's 2017 season. To play, girls must be Belmont, Canterbury or Laconia residents between the ages of 4 and 18 as of Dec. 31, 2016. Proof of residency is required for all players. For new players, a copy of the child's birth certificate is also required.

Registration fees are: 6U League age 4-6 $35, 8U League age 6-8 $45; 10U League age 8-10 $55; 12U League age 10-12 $65; Seniors League age 13-18 $75.

Family discounts are available.

League age 8 and 10 year-olds interested in playing in an older division must try-out for the older division. If player is not chosen for an older division team, she will play in their age-appropriate division.

Visit the league website to register online or to download the registration form at www.lakesregiongirlssoftball.com. Visit Belmont Elementary School on Saturday, Jan. 28, and Feb. 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., to register in person.

LRGS is hosting free winter warm-up clinics on the following Sundays: Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19, March 5. Clinics are held at Laconia Middle School and will focus on fundamental softball skills, such as hitting, fielding and throwing. Times are 4-5 p.m. for 4 to 8 year olds; and 5-6 p.m for 8 to 12 year-olds.
