Dogs sleeping on top of their houses, trusting place kickers, finicky place kick holders and kids with security blankets will be on display as Plymouth State College stages its production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown September 30 and October 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 at Silver Cultural Arts Center on the PSU campus.

Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Sally and good old Charlie Brown sing and dance in Sunday comic strip color as Charles Schultz’ popular creation Peanuts comes to life on stage. This musical adaptation has entertained audiences for more than three decades by capturing the touching and hilarious essence of the beloved comic strip.

All cast members are theatre majors or minors at PSU. Charlie Brown is played by John Phipps; Lyndsay Freeman plays his sister, Sally Brown, while Chris Candage plays the part of Schroeder. Ken Quiricone plays the part of Snoopy, Isaac Mishkit is Linus Van Pelt and Sarah Comtois plays Lucy Van Pelt.

Heather E. Hamilton, who is a graduate of PSU’s theatre program, is the play’s director. Will Ogmundson is the musical director. Both Hamilton and Ogmundson serve on the Music, Theatre and Dance Department’s adjunct faculty.

Written by composer/lyricist/librettist Clark Gesner, the play is performed by Plymouth State Theatre and the Music Theatre Company. Some of the musical numbers include: You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, My Blanket and Me, Beethoven Day, The Book Report, My New Philosophy and Happiness.

Curtain time is at 8 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. will be staged October 2 and 9. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and youths, and $5 for PSU students.

You’re a Good Main Charlie Brown will be performed at the Silver Cultural Arts Center, Main and Court Streets. More information about the event is available from the center at 603-535-2787 or on the Web at www.plymouth.edu/cac.
