It looks like the leaves will be at peak color this weekend for the 27th annual Oktoberfest at Gunstock Mountain Resort — Saturday and Sunday, October 13 & 14.
This annual event has become one of the Lakes Region’s favorite fall events. “The foliage is later this year so the timing of Oktoberfest is perfect.”, says Greg Goddard, Gunstock's general manager. “Guests can revel while tasting different German beers, great German food, and the world famous King Ludwig’s Band — the premier Bavarian band in the northeast who make Gunstock their home each year.”
The Alpenland Tanzer, New England’s favorite Bavarian dance group, will perform the authentic "Shuhplatter". Patrons will join them as they transport you with the sights and sounds of Bavaria, in Gunstock’s historic base lodge.
The full schedule of events in on the web at www.gunstock.com , and includes face painting, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, music throughout the day, inflatable obstacle course, keg throwing contest, pancake eating contest and, fireworks on Saturday night.
“With all the activities that are planned it is a perfect day for everyone in the family, and the adults can dance the night away," says Bill Quigley, Gunstock director of marketing and sales. "Young and old, Gunstock Mountain Resort’s Oktoberfest has something for everyone, and we will even have the Red Sox game on the TVs. Enjoys the views from the summit, with mountaintop entertainment, and the spectacular fall foliage overlooking Lake Winnipesauke."
There will be two shows on Saturday and one on Sunday. Hours on Saturday are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults tickets are $15, 18 and under is $5. and children under five are admitted free. Lift rides (noon to 4 p.m.) are $5 each.
New for this year, patrons will get their commemorative mug filled with your beverage of choice for an additional $10.
