LACONIA – Do you work with children or families? NH Children's Trust is bringing a research-based training to the Lakes Region for anyone to attend – with no cost to attendees.
Beginning January 21, trainers Maria Doyle and Julie Day begin a series aimed to strengthen families and ultimately prevent child abuse and neglect. They kick off the year at the Lakes Region Community Services at 719 N. Main Street in Laconia on the 21st with an overview session, followed by two full-day sessions in February and April.
The course offered, Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in your Work, is a 7-module training with real-world examples of ways caregivers can promote the Protective Factors.
These Protective Factors are characteristics that when present and robust in families, build on families strengths, buffer risks and promote better outcomes for children, families and the community. Professionals who work with children are in a great position to promote these characteristics through small but significant changes when approaching their work.
This series meets the requirements for Child Care Professional Development hours. Attending all 3 sessions provides 16 professional development hours and could satisfy almost an entire year's requirements and enhance your capacity to help the families of the children in your care. The training is especially relevant for those whose work focuses on children and families, childcare and social workers, teachers, nurses, coaches, etc.
Grant funding from the Samuel P. Pardoe Foundation and the Franklin Savings Bank Fund for Community Advancement allows us to present this training at no cost to participants. NH Children's Trust urges those who are interested in attending to register as soon as possible.
