LACONIA — In what has become one of the most popular tickets in the region, the monthly Comedy Night at Pitman's Freight Room (94 New Salem St. Laconia) will take place Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m starring Joe Yannetty (Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime), Ryan Gartley (Las Vegas), and Abishek Shah. Tickets are $15 and Pitman's is a BYOB venue.
The last Pitman's show drew a sellout of 215 with another 30 having to be turned away after the last seat was filled. The show marked the second time that Pitman's had topped the 200 mark for a comedy night and reinforced the idea that comedy fans of the area will support high level shows.
As for the show this Saturday, the headliner, Joe Yannetty, is making his second appearance at Pitman's. Yannetty appeared last June when he was joined on stage by Rory, the dog belonging to Pitman's owners Dick and Connie Mitchell. The photo of Yannetty and Rory on stage made its way through Facebook and other social media.
"I love that room," said Yannetty, who is a national comedian whose diverse act and crowd interaction has taken him across the country and around the world performing at the largest and most prestigious comedy clubs in America. "The first time I was there the dog walked up on stage and laid down next to the stool. He was great and the crowd got a kick out of it.
"I'm looking forward to this," added Yannetty who has made more than 40 television appearances. "The crowd last summer was fun."
Also appearing will be Ryan Gartley, who is a 20-year veteran of the Boston comedy scene having played Las Vegas, New York and virtually every major club in the region. Gartley has been a semifinalist in both the Boston and the Portland Comedy Festivals, and he has opened for national acts such as Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright, and Lenny Clarke.
The night's opener, Shah, has quickly climbed the ladder and has become one of the region's favorite opening acts, setting the plate for some of the top comedians in the business.
