MEREDITH — Members of Altrusa International of Meredith are collecting serviceable books in all sizes with a goal of keeping every toe in town warm and dry this winter. Anyone who has outgrown or unneeded children or adult boots can bring them to the collection site at Edward Jones Investments (14 Main Street) through the end of November. Early donations will assure that neighbors have dry feet when the first snow flies.
The Meredith Emergency Food Pantry will distribute the boots to neighbors in need. The staff of the pantry told Altrusa's Community Service chair, Barbara Goren, that, along with nutritious food, their clients need winter boots.
Providing winter boots to needy neighbors who rely on the food pantry is an example of Altrusa partnering with other community agencies to improve the quality of life for the whole community. Altrusa, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit, is open to new members who wish to help the community. Learn more about the club at altrusameredithnh.org.
