The annual Memorial Day Sunday Service will be held at Smith Meeting House May 27 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Following the church service will be Memorial Day exercises at noon, presented by the Ellis-Geddes-Leavitt American Legion Post 102, hosted by the Gilmanton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102. The auxiliary will serve light refreshments and cold drinks.
This longtime tradition in Gilmanton is the only time of the year the community formally recognizes the men and women who have served our country, through times of war and peace, including Bunker Hill, Gettysburg, Flanders’s Field, Normandy, Pearl Harbor, the 38th parallel, Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Gulf war, to name a few.
