Transfer and Recycling Center manger Justin Leavitt is reminding residents that the direct disposal of medical "sharps" into the waste stream is not allowed for obvious safety reasons. He notes that Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia has a take-back program for such waste. "Sharps" should be put into a large laundry soap bottle and then the top should be sealed with tap. The contained should then be labeled with words: "Caution SHARPS! Not for recycle."
Medical 'sharps' are not to be placed in Gilmanton waste stream
