Laconia Main Street has announced the opening display of local artist decorated Adirondack chairs, tables and benches will be held Thursday, July 12 at the Belknap Mill at 6:30 p.m.. The "A Chair Affair" display is being held in conjunction with the Belknap Mill Summer Concert Series and the Riverside Coalition barbecue.
After the opening display at the Belknap Mill, some of the chairs, tables and benches will be showcased at the Canal Street Courtyard which is located at 50-62 Canal Street behind Sisters 3 Gourmet Goodies, The Laconia Main Street Office, Imagine Gallery, Mr. Paul’s Hair Affair and Awakenings.
On Saturday, August 4, in the evening, the Laconia Main Street Program will host the Sock Hop — a fun-filled evening for the entire family including live entertainment, dancing and food at the Laconia Community Center. on Union Avenue. At the Sock Hop, all of the Adirondack chairs, tables and benches will be auctioned off. Each item will be available for bidding that evening and the highest bidder will be the proud new owner of a one of a kind hand painted Adirondack chair, table or bench to use at their home or summer residence. The proceeds from the Chair Affair auction fund the Laconia Main Street’s Façade Grant program and other Design Team projects.
Laconia Main Street is a downtown revitalization effort focusing on economic development and community building through historic preservation. The Laconia Main Street program is a proud member of the New Hampshire Main Street Center and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
