LACONIA — A historical Christmas Eve worship service will be celebrated at the United Baptist Church of Lakeport on Sunday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.

The church was founded in 1774 on Parade Road in Laconia and they are now in their fourth church building. The first two years of the church were spent in the United Colonies of Great Britain; it became part of the new United State of America on July 4, 1776. The church has celebrated 243 Christmas Eves throughout the years. It continues that tradition this year with a Service of Carols and Candles. An explanation of the history of each of the carols will given. The Rev. Robert Lemieux, senior minister, and the Rev. Gary Mauck, minister emeritus, will lead the service. This O Holy Night Service will give a very special spiritual direction to the Christmas season.
