Laconia Adult Education is offering free basic math and reading classes beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 18, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The goal is to improve math and reading skills and eventually work toward a GED certificate or high school diploma. On Monday evenings, a reading comprehension class will be offered in science, social studies and literature, which are pre-requisites for the GED Exam.
The adult basic education classes will help provide the reading and math skills to get a job, get off welfare, or even get a job promotion. The classes are individualized; each student progresses at his or her own pace. There are no tests and no one fails. There is no need to feel embarrassed or self-conscious if you have weaknesses in reading or math. Improve your reading comprehension skills and learn basic math skills from fractions, percentages, and decimals to pre-GED math skills.
To enroll in the reading and math classes call the Laconia Adult Education office at 524-5712 or stop by the Adult Education Office located in Room 108 at Laconia High School. If you have a friend, co-worker, or family member who would like to improve his or her reading or math skills, call 524-5712 for more information or to enroll in the classes.
