Hannah Banana Baskets, a local company owned by Stephanie Shirley, has been named to the "Top 100" list of gift basket companies in the United States. The award was presented to Shirley on Sept. 10 at the "Jubilee 2005" National Gift Basket Convention and Trade Show in Boston.
Hannah Banana Baskets earned a position in the "Fast 50" section of the "Top 100" list by increasing sales by 300-percent over the past three years.
Shirley, who holds an Art Education degree from Plymouth State university, started her home-based business as a way to stay home with her two young children while her husband Eric, a NH State Trooper, went to work. She said she watched her business flourish after joining the Laconia/Weirs Beach Chamber of Commerce in 2003.
Shirley serves as a Chamber Ambassador and has been active on the golf tournament, annual meeting and Business Expo committees. A supporter of local charities, she often donates her baskets to the WLNH Children's Auction, the March of Dimes Auction, The Lakes Region United Way's Sweetheart Auction and the Lovering Volvo Red Dress Gala to benefit LRGHealthcare, to name a few.
