Gunstock Ski Club is set to host the annual Francis Piche Invitational, a major United States Ski Association (USSA) racing event at Gunstock Mountain Resort. This championship race will take place over the course of three days, beginning with two training days on March 13 and 14, and culminating with race day on Saturday, March 15.

This giant slalom, sponsored for over 30 years by Piche’s Ski and Sport Shops of Gilford and Belmont, was named after Francis Piche, in honor of his dedication to the sport of skiing.

Up to 400 junior skiers will take part in this invitational. Nine states will be represented with athletes coming from as far away as Pennsylvania and Virginia. With the influx of these skiers and their families, businesses in the Lakes Region each year enjoy the economic boost from this event.

The Gunstock Ski Club, the oldest organized ski club in New Hampshire, will be in charge of the technical aspects of the training as well as the set-up of the race. The Club, with its headquarters located at Gunstock, is committed to offering its young members, ages 6-18, the opportunity to compete in alpine training and racing.
