Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Business Management honor student Nicole Costa of Gilford receives the Robert H. Turner Scholarship from LRCC President Dr. Mark Edelstein during the college’s Awards Night ceremony recently. Robert H. Turner was the founding president of LRCC having supervised the original construction of the college’s main building and the first admitted class on Prescott Hill in 1968. Turner served as president until 1984. “I had butterflies in my stomach at Awards Night because I was so nervous about getting the Robert H. Turner Scholarship,” says Costa, who also received a Lakes Region Management Club scholarship in February. “Knowing that the Turner Scholarship was provided by the founding president of LRCC makes me feel honored.” The Robert H. Turner Scholarship requires that the recipient has completed at least one semester with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and submits a mandatory essay with the application. (Courtesy photo)
