GILFORD — Lifelong friends and successful businessmen Kevin Shaw and Scott Everett have shared many great moments in their lives. High school teammates and friends, the two literally grew up on the Gilford soccer and baseball fields and spent many summer hours at Gilford Beach. Additionally, the two traveled through Europe together playing soccer at a very high level.
Thirty years after their high school graduation, they remain close. Recently that friendship led to the two Gilford Alumni making very generous donations ($3,000 from Shaw and $5,000 from Everett) to their alma mater’s Unified Club. The Unified Club is a social club that promotes inclusion for students with intellectual disabilities. Some activities the club has done in past years are bowling at Funspot, movies and dinners at GHS, sledding, Halloween parties, dances and game nights at GHS. With the funding provided by Shaw and Everett, the club will be able to include some more ambitious events like trips to Boston or to Maine or to include some summer events like camping or sailing on the lake.
The Unified Club advisors are Tom Carr and Laurie Belanger. Carr said, “We are extremely grateful for the funding these two men have provided. The Unified Club makes life better for every student in the club. It is exceptional for Kevin and Scott to notice the great, life changing results coming from unified sports and the Unified Club. We are extremely appreciative.”
Kevin Shaw is a real estate agent with Roche Realty Group.
Scott Everett is the founder of Supreme Lending of Dallas, Texas.
