The Meredith Historical Society held its Annual Luncheon Meeting on December 2 at Hart's Turkey Farm Restaurant. President George Jewell presided and expressed thanks to officers, trustees, committee members, and the membership for the support rendered during 2008 and to those members who contributed to the many facets of the Society.

Officers were elected for the coming year. They are George Jewell, president; Dawn Dever, vice president of Museum Operations; Nancy Jewell, vice president of Preservation; corresponding secretary, Pauline Fournier; Virginia Hatch, recording secretary; Janis Roberts, treasurer; and Charles Roberts, assistant treasurer. Elected to the Board of Directors are Bill Pond, Jan Phillips, John Robinson, Pauline Fournier, and Esther Wyatt.

Members continue to work on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m . to noon at the Main Street Museum to catalogue and clean museum artifacts. Interested parties are encouraged to call 279-1190 and leave a message if they would like to help.

It was announced that the Main Street Museum will be open on Sunday, December 7th from 12 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The window will be dressed soon with a replica of the Boston and Main Stream Locomotives by Rod Smith, collector.

On Saturday, August 15th the Society will sponsor its First Annual Auction of Antiques and Collectibles at the Meredith Community Center Gym from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Paul Hough of Waukewan Antiques will donate his time and expertise as auctioneer. All proceeds will benefit the Society. Donations are requested. Call 986-0855 for pickups.

A Bake Sale will take place Memorial Day weekend and again in August, the weekend of the Craft Fair.

The next meeting of the Society will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008, at noon at the First Congregational Church Parish House on Highland Street. This will be a pot-luck luncheon with members bringing favorite recipes to share.
