The Laconia Middle School Parent Teacher Organization will be holding a community information forum on Wednesday, March 11 on three crucial issues facing middle and high school students today — drugs, alcohol and cyber bullying. This important forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the LMS library.
Our district’s School Resource Officer will be covering popular street drugs; the forms that they come in; how they are used; their effects and current drug trends in the community. Other topics will include alcohol use and cyber-bullying (text messaging/email and online issues). Other knowledgeable community representatives will be on hand to offer their expertise on these issues.
Babysitting will be available by members of the LMS National Junior Honor Society and refreshment will be served.
A drawing will be held for an art print done by local artist Larry Frates of Frates Creative Art Center. The print is being donated by Project Extra, the after school program dedicated to Enriching eXtensions To Raise Achievment. Project Extra staff will also be available to provide information about their program.
A silent auction for other artistic prints will be held along with a bake sale, the proceeds of which will go to help defray the costs of the 8th grade graduation activities.
