Long-time board members John Starrett and William (Bill) Foote to retire
Meredith Village Savings Bank has announced the election of two prominent Laconia business professionals, James (Jim) Dirubbo and John Kitchen to the bank's Board of Trustees. Dirubbo and Kitchen were welcomed to the Board at the bank's recent annual meeting. Also announced at the annual meeting was the retirement of long-time trustees John Starrett and William (Bill) Foote.
"Our bylaws require that Trustees retire once they reach age 70," explained Bill Beyer, President and CEO. "Regretfully, it was time for John and Bill to leave the Board as active members. They will now join our special group of honorary Trustees. The contributions of both these men have been very significant over the years," Beyer concluded.
John Starrett, of Meredith, joined Meredith Village Savings Bank as Senior Vice President in 1985 and was named President and CEO in 1996 after the untimely death of Jim Sutherland. Although he retired from the bank in 1998, he continued to serve as a Trustee until last month.
William (Bill) Foote, of Wolfeboro, joined the bank as a Corporator in 1976 and was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1977. He spent his career working in the insurance business.
"While saying our official farewells to two very good friends, we're also very pleased to be welcoming Jim Dirubbo and John Kitchen to the Board," Beyer added. "Both of these gentlemen have strong ties to the community and bring strong expertise to the Board. We look forward to working with them for many years."
James (Jim) Dirubbo is a certified public accountant and partner in Malone, Dirubbo & Company, P.C., in Laconia. He is very active in the community, serving on the boards of the Belknap County Economic Development Council and LRGHealthcare, and has been actively involved with the Lakes Region United Way and Community Health and Hospice in the past. He is a resident of Laconia. Dirubbo was elected as a MVSB Corporator in 2002.
John Kitchen is a trust attorney in Laconia and a resident of Gilford. He has served in the past as Gilford's school district moderator and on the board of LRGHealthcare. He is currently on the board of governors for the NH Bar Association. Kitchen was elected as a MVSB Corporator in 2000.
