LACONIA — St. Andre Bessette Parish will hold its annual blessing of the animals at St. Joseph Church on Church Street in downtown Laconia on Sunday at noon.
The blessing ceremony for pets will take place near the statue of St. Francis outside the church. The custom of the blessing of animals serves as a remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, known for his love of animals and all creation, whose feast day is Oct. 4.
St. Andre Bessette is a Roman Catholic Parish serving Laconia, Lakeport, Gilford and the surrounding communities of the Lakes Region.
