PLYMOUTH — The Educational Theatre Collaborative (ETC) will hold auditions for its 16th season production, a musical adaptation of J.M. Barrie's beloved "Peter Pan," at PSU's Silver Center for the Arts on Saturday, November 6; Sunday, November 14; and Monday, November 15.

On Saturday, November 6 from 9 a.m. — noon, children grades 3 — 5 may audition. That afternoon from 1 — 4 p.m. students grades 6 — 8 may try out for roles. The following Sunday and Monday, November 14 and 15 from 6:30 — 9:30 p.m., auditions will be held for high school and university students, faculty, staff, and community members.

On Tuesday, November 16 from 4 — 6 p.m., call backs will be held for all children. Later that evening, from 6:30 — 9 p.m. additional auditions will be held for high school students and adults. Call backs for high schoolers and adults will be held Thursday, November 18.

For ETC’s rendition of "Peter Pan," an intergenerational cast of young people and adults will take a turn at telling the story of the boy who won’t grow up, and the adventures he shares with three British children. The tale is woven through storytelling, dance, and singing. The musical score was written by the award-winning composers Mark Charlap and Jule Styne and includes familiar songs such as “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “Indians,” “Never Never Land,” and “I Won’t Grow Up.”

ETC seeks strong dancers of all ages to portray the Indians, great character actors for pirates (both male and female) and 20-25 “lost boys” (who may be portrayed by girls if they are comfortable playing boys).

Robb Dimmick, associate producer of ETC, who is a professional actor from Providence, R.I. will play the part of Captain Hook. All other roles are open including Peter, Wendy, John, Michael — all of whom must be comfortable with heights — Mrs. Darling, Smee, Tiger Lily, and Nana.

There is a $145 participation fee for those cast in the show. Scholarships are available for college students and others needing financial assistance.

Children in grades 3–8 will be auditioned in groups and do not need to prepare anything in advance or schedule an individual time. High school and university students, faculty, staff, and community members must come prepared with a song and schedule an audition time by calling Brenda Gleich at 535-2803.

Everyone should wear loose, comfortable clothes and shoes for the auditions.

Rehearsals will take place throughout January with performance dates scheduled for January 26–29.

ETC, a collaborative venture of the Plymouth State University College of Graduate Studies, Plymouth Elementary School and Friends of the Arts, welcomes and encourages people of all ages, both experienced and non-experienced, to audition for this community-wide theatre project.
