The Sandwich Fair will be held on Columbus Day weekend — October 8, 9 and 10, 2005 — in Center Sandwich. Gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. There will be a special midway preview on Friday, October 7, where patrons may ride the wide variety of amusements from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for $10. Music will be provided by the Lisa Young Band. The rides are provided by Gillette Shows.
Fernald Lumber's Yankee Hitch will be on the fairgrounds again with a display and daily shows, and it will be in the Grand Street Parade on Sunday. The Yankee Hitch comes complete with six magnificent matched one-ton Belgian horses pulling a 4,000 pound spring wagon. New this year is a miniature horse demonstration on Sunday at 9 a.m. The Sandwich Fair welcomes members of the N-H Horse Club and their many demonstrations.
Daily activities include horse shows, tractor pulls, horse and oxen pulling, child's pedal tractor pulls, stage shows, 4-H displays, open and 4-H animal shows and judging, and crafts demonstrations where crafts may be purchased, and much more. Saturday morning the antique auto show is followed by the antique auto parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, the Grand Street Parade starts at 1 p.m. and travels through the town onto the fairgrounds. The Parade has floats, bands, the Sandwich stage coach, tractors, motorcycles, animals and clowns. The stage shows present a different magic show each day.
On Sunday and Monday there will be 4-H livestock judging. The Sandwich Fair, providing fun for the whole family, is located at the junctions of routes 109 and 113 in Center Sandwich. For more information visit www.sandwichfairnh.com.
