SANBORTON — The Winnisquam Regional School District partnered with NH Hunger Solutions to participate in the School Breakfast Challenge, aiming to increase daily breakfast participation among students. Throughout the year, special events will be held at each school to support this initiative.
Recently, the district, in collaboration with the Children's Literacy Foundation, hosted Breakfast and Books events at Sanbornton Central School and Southwick School. Storyteller Simon Brooks entertained students with witty and comical tales. Each student received a book to take home and enjoyed Simon’s performance.
Deputy Director of Hunger Solutions Riona Coor emphasized the importance of breakfast and its nutritional value. Hannaford Supermarkets, also an event sponsor, donated snack plates featuring the four food groups for students to enjoy at home, along with some health snacks.
Informational brochures highlighting the benefits of school breakfast and providing links to the School Meals application and the SNAP program were distributed to parents and guardians.
