The Winnipesaukee Chapter-Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to present 2026 DAR Good Citizens awards to four local students representing Brewster Academy, Kingswood Regional High School, Moultonborough Academy and Prospect Mountain Regional High School.

Each student will receive the DAR Good Citizens certificate, pin and a monetary gift, for exemplifying the four qualities of a Good Citizens: Dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. One of the Good Citizens Award winners will be chosen to represent the Winnipesaukee Chapter at the New Hampshire DAR Good Citizens state competition. All four students will be honored at the Good Citizens Awards luncheon to be held March 6 in Concord.

The four 2026 DAR Good Citizens are:

Luke Tyler Smolan of Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro. Smolan serves as a Senior Prefect at school in a leadership role. He also volunteers at Sugar Hill Retirement Community and for End 68 Hours of Hunger. At Brewster, he is involved with the Mental Health Awareness Club, Finance Club, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Smolan enjoys sports and is on several Brewster Academy teams. He is captain of the varsity baseball team and plays on the varsity hockey, and varsity cross-country teams. He was a Bobcat Athlete of the Week in 11th grade. Smolan plans to attend college and receive a degree in finance.

Jordyn Martineau of Kingswood Regional High School. Martineau is a multi-support varsity athlete, competing in basketball and softball and serving as a captain of both the varsity field hockey and dance teams. Beyond athletics, she is deeply committed to community engagement, volunteering with Knights Against Hunger, serving as a leadership intern for Camp Invention, and mentoring younger students through Ossipee Central School’s after-school program. Martineau is active in the National Honor Society and has earned the Excellence in American Government Award and the prestigious Gold Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish. She plans to pursue a degree in forensic science and aspires to a career as a crime investigator.

Brett Johnson of Moultonborough Academy. Johnson is an outstanding student and athlete. He has competed in soccer, football, baseball, and basketball, holding leadership positions in baseball and basketball. He serves as a mentor and counselor in the after-school program, as well as summer camp. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Youth and Government, and Getting to “Y.” Johnson is looking forward to taking a broad range of courses in college to help him to decide on a career.

Liam Conway of Prospect Mountain High School in Alton. Conway is a graduating senior and a member of the National Honor Society and Academic High Honor Roll. He is actively engaged in school life through varsity cross-country, Athletic Booster Club, Robotics Club, and serving as vice president of AV Crew Club. Beyond school, Conway has participated in leadership and enrichment programs and gives back to his community through volunteer work and fundraising efforts. Some of his volunteer activities include Norwich Future Leadership Camp, Boys State NH, Boy Scouts and landscaping projects through the Widow Outreach program in Alton. He has also raised funds to support the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to preserving American history and securing America’s future through education and promoting patriotism. Any women 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
