GILFORD — Wetlands Walk at Gunstock needs volunteers to help spread ledgepack and replace a pipe on the paths that lead from Brook Run Trail to the two paths that connect it to the one-quarter mile, wheelchair accessible boardwalk.
“Many thanks to Nutter Sand and Gravel in Belmont for donating the ledgepack to help with the 20% match, $5,263, for the new NHDNCR Recreational Trails Program grant,” said Jan Hooper, volunteer and manager.
Volunteer time, donations and contributed materials will help with the match. The next two Maintenance Mornings are Nov. 5 and 7, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers are welcome for all or part of the time. In addition to the grant tasks, basic care will continue removing invasive weeds, cleaning the boardwalk surface and the Buy a Board name plates, minor carpentry for leveling and new posts, painting the bumper for the visually impaired.
Snacks, water and beverages provided. Email for gate access information. Helpers under 18 must bring a parent or guardian adult with them. Community service certificates are available and groups are welcome.
At any time, visitors can walk one-quarter of mile from the small parking lot just off Route 11A. Mobility impaired visitors can stop at the Camping Office to access the disabled parking lot. If there is “real” rain, the outdoor work is cancelled; showers are OK.
