PLYMOUTH ― The Pemi-Baker Centennial Lions Club is proud to announce the success of its “Striking It Rich Fundraiser,” held March 15 at The Last Chair Brewery & Restaurant.
The event raised $5,225 to support the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for local communities. A check presentation was held on April 15 with the Plymouth Fire Department and EMS to celebrate the milestone, and recognize the generosity of community members, local businesses, and volunteers who made the fundraiser possible.
AEDs are lifesaving devices that can restore a normal heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest. With more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occurring annually outside hospitals in the United States, early defibrillation can increase survival rates by up to 70%. Many public spaces in the region still lack access to these devices, making this fundraiser a critical step toward improving emergency readiness.
Of the funds raised, $3,959.68 has already been issued to purchase the first two AED units. The remaining funds will be held in reserve for additional AEDs as the Plymouth Fire Department identifies priority locations.
