Summer Educators Retreat at Plymouth's Common Man Inn in August

The Remedial Herstory Project is hosting its second annual Summer Educators Retreat on Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 8-10 at Plymouth's Common Man Inn and Spa to help teachers integrate more women's history and literature into their curriculum. This event is open to all teachers, community members, and lifelong learners that would like to explore how women shaped the world we live in.

The retreat will provide 24 hours of professional development hours for educators as well as a packet of ready to use lesson plans to implement this fall. Studies show that educators currently teach women's history between 5-20% of the time, with 5% being the plurality. The retreat will feature speakers from around the world, be available online and in person, and provide educators with dozens of packaged lesson plans, videos, and other tools and resources to get women into every unit of their curriculum.

Educators will have the opportunity to workshop with RHP founder and Plymouth State University Social Studies Education Coordinator, Kelsie Eckert, to develop their own lesson plans on content that they already teach and are passionate about.
