MANCHESTER — Congratulations to The Founders Academy Public Charter School student Amelia Zonfrilo who was selected as the New Hampshire State 7th grade American History Essay Contest winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest. This year’s topic involved the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre. Essay contestants were to imagine they were living in Boston on March 5, 1770, and to describe in their essay their family’s discussion about the massacre and what role it played in organizing colonists against the British King and Parliament. Zonfrillo worked with Founders Academy history teacher, Andrew Mihaly, to learn more about the Boston Massacre so she could write a detailed essay. Zonfrillo will be recognized at the luncheon of State Conference on Saturday, May 8 in Meredith, at Church Landing.
Evan Dexter, also a 7th grader at The Founders Academy Public Charter School was selected by the Molly Stark Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for the Community Service Award from his donation of 500 canteen books to the Manchester VA Medical Center. Dexter will be recognized among other Community Service Award winners at the luncheon of State Conference held on Saturday, May 8 at Church Landing in Meredith.
