BRISTOL — Let the sun back in and your inner star shine at the Tapply-Thompson Community Center where the stage is set for a springtime celebration of song and belonging. As the season turns to warmer weather, we welcome you to an Open House Tour of our new music program — the Strum and Drum Jam Lab where we now have two music rooms and so many wonderful instruments to try and explore. We also welcome all aspiring singers to try their luck at the Newfound Idol Karaoke Contest which started on March 28, and is being held at the Bridgewater Inn. Proceeds go directly to the Community Center.
On Monday, April 20, at 5:45 p.m., we will be hosting an Open House Tour of our new music program which offers guitar, ukulele and drum lessons, as well as a Rock Band Ensemble where you can find your perfect fit. Be a part of the band and come in to see all that we have been working on. Sign-up for lessons or your spot in our school of rock-like jam ensemble.
Outfitted with the highest quality instruments and the best instructors, this program is perfect for youth (ages 8 and up) and adults looking to learn, grow, or get back into music. We are offering ongoing sessions of Guitar & Ukulele lessons being held on Mondays and Tuesdays with instructor and professional musician Doug Thompson. We also offer Drum Lessons on Wednesdays, which include introduction to Drumming starting at 5:15 p.m. and Introduction to Hand Drumming at 6:15 p.m. Whether you're a beginner or already have some experience, our instructors create a fun, supportive space to learn and jam with others.
Register or learn more at ttccrec.org/youth_programs/music-lessons.
We also welcome you to sing your heart out at this year’s Newfound Idol Karaoke Contest, supporting the TTCC and brought to you by the Bridgewater Inn. They’ll be hosting a six-week karaoke contest which started on March 28 and will be wrapping up with the finale on May 2.
