GILFORD ― Service Credit Union will host Laconia Middle School Day at its Gilford branch, located at 5 Sargents Place, on Saturday, May 16, welcoming students and families for a hands-on, interactive experience designed to make financial education engaging, approachable and fun.

The first-of-its-kind event builds on Service Credit Union’s ongoing Bite of Reality partnership with Laconia Middle School and reflects a shared commitment to helping students develop strong, healthy money habits early in life. Bite of Reality is a hands-on, app-based financial simulation designed for youth participants to experience adult financial life for a day.

Throughout the day, families will be invited to explore a variety of kid-friendly and educational activities both inside and outside the branch, including guided branch tours and an opportunity for students to ask the staff any questions they have.

Parents and guardians will also have the opportunity to apply for credit union membership on site while students participate in activities, making it easy to take the next step toward building a financial foundation as a family.

If attendees would like to open an account, they should bring $5 to establish membership, a valid government-issued photo ID and their Social Security number. Attendees under 18 will need a parent or guardian with them to open an account.

In addition to educational programming, the event will feature giveaways and refreshments. Laconia Middle School Day is free to attend and open to students, families, and all area youth.
