HOLDERNESS — Science Pub is returning live to Walter’s Basin Restaurant. On Tuesday, March 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Raisa Kochmaruk from the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation will be speaking about conservation through art. Raisa is a natural illustrator and science communicator who joined the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation in 2021. Growing up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Raisa loved drawing and painting birds and other wildlife, and frequently took commissions for children and family portraits throughout high school. Raisa often adds art to Hubbard Brook Research Foundation newsletters, and still takes commissions on the side. She is interested in children’s books and textbook illustration, and enjoys working in proximity to scientists who can help her improve the accuracy of her work.
Doors open at 5:30 and the presentation begins at 6 p.m. Science Pub is for an adult audience and is a collaboration between Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, Squam Lakes Association, and Squam Lakes Conservation Society. Space is limited to 30 and pre-registration is required at nhnature.org.
Walter’s Basin Restaurant is located at 859 US-3.
