LACONIA — The 8th Annual Runaway Pumpkin 10K & 5K Run/Walk kicked off the New Hampshire Pumpkin Festival with over 650 participants, many of them vying for the event’s signature delicious pumpkin bread prizes, provided courtesy of Annie’s Café & Catering.
Highlights included Corey Dowe of North Conway winning the 5K with a time of 17:22 (5.37/mile), breaking her own course record, followed by top male, Ryan Lafrance of Gilford, finishing with a time of 18:18 (5.55/mile).
Doug Mercer of Laconia was first across the finish line for the 10K (36:53, 5.58p), and Ember Stokes, also of Laconia, finished fifth overall and first 10K female (41:18, 6.40p).
“It was a great day for the WOW Trail, and we’re so thankful for the generosity of our sponsors and for the 50-plus volunteers that make it all happen,” said Event Director Jennifer Beetle. “We are especially fortunate to have the support of our presenting sponsor, Eastern Propane & Oil, and our shirt sponsor, Meredith Village Savings Bank, along with our event sponsors, Opechee Construction, Patrick’s and US Foods, Kids Fun Run Sponsor, The Downtown Gym, Course Director Anna Terry of Juggernaut Fitness and Race Director, Jamie Poire.
