MEREDITH — Seventy-three ladies from various clubs in New England were anxious to hit the links for a challenging day of golf. “Hawaiian Par-Tee” was the theme for this Sept. 15 Invitational.

The format for the day was “2 Best Low Nets per Foursome.” First place team with a net 113 was Yolanda Miller, Yvonne Hale and Jane Pillsbury. Second place team with a net 117 was Jane McElwee, Kay MacDonald, Karen Groetz and Jane Jarvis. Third place went to the team of Margie Meyers, Diane Asbury and Martha Dexter with a net score of 118. The Fourth place team scored 119 with a card play-off with the fifth place team were Janice Spry, Dorothy Savery, Diane Piet and Heidi Nelson. And finally, the Fifth-place team of Fidella Riccio, Sharon Fuller, Kathy Jacques and Janet Bickford scored 119.

There were six contest holes waiting for the ladies on the course. Yolanda Miller closest to the pin on hole #3 at 13’ 3.5”; Martha Dexter won closest to the pin on #11 putting her drive 10’ 10” from the pin; In keeping with the theme of “Hawaiian Par-Tee” hole #1 challenged the golfers to put their drive closest to the Palm Tree. Dottie Simpson won this contest hole. Hole #14 challenged the ladies to drive closest to the pin 2nd shot. This was accomplished by Linda Pletch at 16 feet 10 inches. Linda Pletch won longest drive on the fairway Hole #8. Karen Groetz won the prize for longest drive in the fairway on Hole #17. Linda Pletch won the prize for the overall low gross score of 83.

The ladies all agreed it was a great day of golf and happy that their participation in this very successful event will support the charity, Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, chosen by the Waukewan Ladies League members.
