BRISTOL — The Pasquaney Garden Club and BLISS, a company that completes murals, are excited to announce plans for an update of the large mural next to the Butterfly Garden, located behind the Minot-Sleeper Library.

The Butterfly Garden is a hidden treasure for all to enjoy. Built in 2000, it continues as a haven for butterflies and townspeople. It’s quiet and peaceful recreation path and stone benches beckon guests to pause and view the Newfound River up close. The Garden Club maintains the garden throughout the growing season with members weeding, pruning and mulching.

The mural located on the Cumberland Farms building was once a vibrant scene of the lake, but it has faded over the years and is in need of repairs. It will need power washing and concrete repair before it can be painted. After the prep work is completed, final painting will take place. BLISS will donate their labor to paint the artwork.

The new design will feature the metamorphosis of a monarch butterfly. This was chosen because many educators use the garden as a classroom to teach lessons about nature. The wall will act as a visual aid to learn about the monarchs and their life stages.

The design has recently been approved and the goal is to complete the mural by early summer. The club is looking for donations to hire local firms that can provide the prep work.
