GILFORD — Patrick’s Pub & Eatery's Pub Mania, the self-proclaimed World’s Greatest Barstool Challenge, will return on Thursday, Dec. 7, to support the teams of the 2023 Challenge in their fundraising efforts for the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction.

After 11 years and over $2.3 million raised, Pub Mania went on hiatus in 2020 during the pandemic. Thirty teams of 12, totaling 360 participants, will return this year for a full day of food, fun and fancy.

Brenda Martel of Team Café Déjà vu, a hall-of-fame team, said, “We’re so thrilled Pub Mania is back because it provides an opportunity to celebrate our teams’ efforts and accomplishments over the past year of fundraising.”

One key highlight of the event will be six hours of live music, beginning at 5 p.m. with Mojo Rhythm, a longtime popular trio from the area. Two great local bands will follow, with The Jodie Cunningham Band performing at 7 p.m. and The Eric Grant Band at 9 p.m.

Patrick’s has shortened Pub Mania from 24 hours to 12, with opening ceremonies kicking off at 11 a.m. and the event wrapping up at 11 p.m.

All funds raised by each team will pass directly to the Children’s Auction for distribution to the community. Proceeds from the auction are used for children’s basic needs, including food, clothing and shelter as well as for programs and organizations that work to improve the lives of children.
