MANCHESTER — The New Hampshire Union Leader is hosting the 67th annual New Hampshire State Spelling Bee today at the Silver Center for the Arts at Plymouth State University.

The spelling bee is sponsored by the New Hampshire Elks Association, a 67-year sponsor, St. Mary’s Bank and Heinemann.

The winner of the state competition will represent New Hampshire and compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee May 24-29, at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.

Nearly 200 students will compete at the State Competition. The day begins at 12:15 with welcome remarks by Congressman Chris Pappas and the announcement of the 30 finalists. The stage competition begins at 1 p.m.
