Meredith Public Library's next America250 program focuses on artists, artworks

MEREDITH ― The Meredith Public Library is pleased to continue its America250 series with “American Art at 250: Masterworks of a Nation,” an engaging exploration of the artists and artworks that have shaped America’s cultural identity over the past two and a half centuries, on June 4.

This special presentation will be led by Jane Oneail, whose previous Meredith Public Library program on Norman Rockwell drew an enthusiastic audience and many requests for her return. Known for making art approachable, engaging, and accessible to all audiences, Oneail brings both scholarly expertise and an inviting presentation style to her programs.

As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this program celebrates America’s extraordinary artistic legacy through a curated exploration of iconic works and influential artists. From the luminous landscapes of the Hudson River School to the bold experimentation of Abstract Expressionism, attendees will discover how American artists have continually redefined both the nation’s visual culture and the international art world.

The presentation will feature masterworks by renowned artists including Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, examining how their work reflected the evolving American experience and spirit of innovation.

Jane Oneail is the founder of Culturally Curious, a company that curates and presents art appreciation programs. She holds a master’s degree in art history from Boston University and a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. Born and raised in New Hampshire, Oneail has worked with several of the state’s leading cultural institutions, including the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, where she served as executive director, and the Currier Museum of Art, where she served as senior educator. She has also taught at the college level for more than a decade, most recently at Southern New Hampshire University.
