MEREDITH ― How many jingle bells are in the glass tree? The Meredith Lions Club wants to know.

Members will be in Community Park on Main St. for Old Home Day on Saturday, Sept. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. with the jar. Prizes, which will be awarded to the top six closest guessers, range from the "Merry Meredith Basket" to restaurant gift cards. First place will be closest guess without going over, and so on.

The drawing will be held at the end of the Meredith Community Center Open House on Sunday, Dec. 6. Proceeds will benefit the Meredith Lions annual Inter-Lakes High School Scholarship Fund.

Members will be at the Family Dollar Store on Friday, Sept. 18, collecting for the local food pantry. The club does this on the third Friday of every month as their mission to help with food insecurity. Members are there from 3 to 6 p.m. and accept donations, then delivering them afterward to the pantry.
