MEREDITH — The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Education Department and the Winni Players Community Theatre, two branches of the Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Meredith, will be presenting the acclaimed Broadway hit Roald Dahl’s “Matilda the Musical” on Dec. 11-15.

In 2010, Dahl’s beloved children’s book leapt to the stage bringing his characters to life with dynamic songs and innovative staging, winning 16 best musical awards. It’s the inspiring story of an extraordinary girl with an unbounded imagination who proves that, despite the odds, you can do anything you put your mind to.

The show features 36 members of the local community onstage and over a dozen working backstage, bringing the community together for a truly sensational theatrical event. Charlotte Van Ledtje makes her Playhouse debut in the title role. She is joined by long-time Playhouse performer Rick Morten as the hated headmistress, Agatha Trunchbull. The production is helmed by Playhouse Artistic Director Timothy L’Ecuyer with choreography by Rebecca Gregoire and music direction by Emily King.

The show will be performed on Wednesday, Dec. 11, through Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m.
