MEREDITH — Scholarship season is here and the Meredith Lions Club is offering four to be presented in June.
The first three are open to graduating seniors from the Inter-Lakes school district and are each worth $1,000. The original scholarship is named for the club and awarded to the student with at least four years of community service with a proven kindness to their fellow man.The second one is named for Lion Clyde Dolly who was a local handy man/carpenter. This scholarship will go to the applicant who will be furthering their career in the trades such as HVAC, mechanics, etc. The Bob Valliere scholarship is sports related and honors a lions member who helped bring the lights to Prescott Park and the Community Center to Meredith. The Jan Adams Memorial Scholarship is named for a former school nurse and dedicated lion.This scholarship is worth $1,500 and is open to any student in the Meredith, Center Harbor, Holderness and Sandwich communities who will or is taking part in medical studies.
Applications can be found at the guidance office at Inter-Lakes Jr./Sr. High School or the Meredith Public Library.
