Laconia Fire platoon helps send off veteran's ashes

Last month, all the members of Laconia Fire Department Platoon 1, led by Lt. JP Hobby, went on a chartered fishing trip out of Hampton. Couple Mary and Paul joined the trip so Mary could spread her the ashes of her brother, a U.S. Army veteran, where he used to go deep sea fishing. Mary is a veterinarian for Massachusetts first responder canines. A former Navy chaplain on the boat volunteered to perform a committal service for the ashes, giving the veteran an appropriate send off. (Courtesy photo)
