MEREDITH ― Junior Hayden Hebron has been chosen as the February Laker of the Month for the Inter-Lakes School District.
Hebron has been an active Interact member for the past four years, stepping into numerous leadership roles and currently serving as secretary. In addition to attending regular meetings, he is active in community service and fundraiser activities, from planning and cooking meals at the Bridge House Shelter to selling raffle tickets down at the Fishing Derby.
This year, Hebron has put his energy and skills to work to bring the Rotary Youth Conference to Inter-Lakes for the first time. He has been on the planning committee for the statewide conference in past years and this year, when the host school said they could not host the conference, Hebron stepped up to offer Inter-Lakes.
In addition to helping coordinate the conference and serving on the planning committee, Hayden took the initiative to bring a new service activity to the conference through working with Rise Against Hunger. This year at the conference, Interact members from around the state will pack over 10,000 meals to be distributed to communities in need.
In addition to his leadership in Interact, Hebron maintains a full course load including AP classes, serves on Student Council, and is a friendly and energetic presence around school.
