LACONIA — The 25th annual HK Powersports Land & Lake Poker Run returns to benefit Easterseals New Hampshire on Saturday, June 11. The milestone event concludes with an all-ages, patriotic-themed “All-American Barbeque” at The NASWA Resort in Laconia.
Starting at 9 a.m., participants will travel by boat, car or motorcycle to four checkpoints around Lake Winnipesaukee to collect playing cards. An optional fifth boat stop is available at Dive Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro. The final stop is the resort’s NazBar & Grill, where judges will award cash prizes of $750, or $1,000 for High Rollers Club members.
The barbecue kicks off at noon on the NazBar’s beach, featuring a buffet, games, a live auction, raffles, and patriotic costume contests. The grand prize is a new Sea-Doo personal watercraft valued at over $14,000, donated by HK Powersports and Sea-Doo. Other major prizes include a Saber stainless steel grill from Fireside Living and two Old Town Loon kayaks from Irwin Marine.
Since 2001, the event has raised over $2 million for Easterseals NH programs serving individuals of all ages, including veterans. This year’s anniversary is dedicated to the memories of Hope and Peter Makris, parents of NASWA Resort owner Cynthia Makris, and community activist Brian Connelly.
“The Makris family is honored to have been part of this tradition since 2001,” said Cynthia Makris. “In honoring Hope, Peter, and Brian, we turn remembrance into meaningful giving.”
Major sponsors include Brady-Sullivan Properties, the title sponsor, HK Powersports of Laconia, The NASWA Resort, Mix 94.1 FM, Sea-Doo, Seachoice Products, Biokleen and Amoskeag Beverages.
