LACONIA — Leaders of the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Fund are thrilled to have taken the gold award in three categories at the Best of the Lakes Region 2026 event in June.

The nonprofit was named Best Place to Volunteer, Best Annual Event and Best Charity Event.

“We are so grateful to those of you who voted for us, and we are proud,” said the Children’s Fund’s Executive Director, Jennifer Kelley. “You’re helping us make an impact in our amazing community.”

More than 310,000 votes were tallied in the contest, in 196 categories.

The Best of the Lakes Region 2026 event was organized by The Laconia Daily Sun, and the celebration took place at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam.

The Children’s Fund’s Winner Takes All raffle at the event brought in $3,210 to support children and families in need in the Lakes Region.

“A big thank you to all those businesses that contributed gift certificates for this raffle, and thanks to all the people who bought raffle tickets,” Kelley said.

Earlier this month, leaders of the Children’s Fund announced a campaign to raise $45,000 this year — over and above its annual fundraising — to celebrate 45 years serving children and families in need.

Over 45 years, the Children’s Fund has distributed more than $10 million to over 150 nonprofits that serve local children and families in need.
