GILFORD — The Gilford Parks and Recreation Department will host a series of programs and events in September. 

Each week, there will be a hike on Tuesdays, meeting at Gilford Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. before departing for the hike. Attendees are encouraged to wear proper footwear and dress, bring water and a snack. RSVP is requested at least a day in advance by calling 603-527-4722.

A new program on mountain bike rides will start on Saturday, Sept. 27, and continue until snowfall. The first reside will be on Ramblin’ Vewe Farm located in Gilford. 

Ride locations will be determined weekly based upon trail and weather conditions. Attendees will meet at the Gilford Town Hall at 9:15 a.m. They should bring water and a snack for each ride. Remember to wear the proper equipment (helmet, closed toe shoes, gloves, etc.) and dress to the weather. RSVP is requested at least a day in advance by calling 603-527-4722.

In-house chef Dan Barnhart will razzle and dazzle attendees with a demonstration of multi-use cooking of a pork loin. Attendees will meet at the Gilford Community Church Fellowship Hall at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, to enjoy the demonstration — then will be serving up a lunch of a pork loin chop with lemon arugula, seasoned fresh green beans, and a chef’s choice dessert.  RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The department is sponsoring a pick-up co-ed volleyball program for adults ages 18 and up, to be held every Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. in the Gilford Middle School Gymnasium.  This program begins on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and runs each Tuesday through the spring.
