SANBORNTON — The second annual Vintage Racing Stable Gala Dinner held on Saturday, July 31, raised close to $150,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region’s Endowment Trust. The evening included dinner, dancing, an auction and powerful remarks from the Club’s Youth of the Year Makaileah Degreenier.

Degreenier shared that Boys & Girls Club staff pushed her to advocate for others and to stand up for herself. She said, “Through the Club I have realized I want to help people and make sure they never feel the way I have felt. I know what it is like to feel lost and alone. I want to make sure others my age or younger have someone they can count on.”

The Boys & Girls Club of the Lakes Region provides before and after school programs and summer day camps to over 350 youth annually. Through a variety of enrichment activities, mentoring and positive reinforcement, Club staff aim to help young people succeed in school and reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. According to Boys & Girls Club CEO Chris Emond, fundraisers such as the Gala Dinner help ensure the club remains accessible and affordable to the kids who need it most. The Gala Dinner organizing committee included Lakes Region residents Nick Grewal, Paul Gaudet, Sr., Donna Hosmer, Bob Smith and Al Posnack.
