LACONIA — Lakes Region Community Developers and Lakes Region Mental Health Center joined forces to raise funds for the new Bay Street Apartments in Laconia. The building is currently under construction with an anticipated completion in spring 2025 and will offer 12 efficiency units of housing for people of very low income who are experiencing or are at-risk of homelessness. Meredith Village Savings Bank provided a $3,400 sponsorship that will furnish one of the new units.

LRCD Executive Director Carmen Lorentz said they are still working toward their $45,000 goal.

“We are seeking individual and business donors to help us fully furnish the building, which will help set up the tenants for success,” said Carmen. “There are different sponsorship levels that will ultimately provide items such as beds, loveseats, coffee tables, TVs and more. We are committed to helping address the housing concerns in the Lakes Region, and this project is one more step in the right direction.”

“LRCD believes that everyone deserves a safe place to call home, regardless of their situation,” said MVSB Vice President and Mortgage Loan Officer and LRCD Board of Directors Treasurer Lori Borrin. “We hope everyone takes a few moments to learn more about this vital project and support in any way they can.”

after this group fought all the local residents who didn't want another homeless shelter in their neighborhood, I hope no one else donates.
