FRANKLIN — This spring, Franklin Footlight Theatre will present “Puffs (Two Act Edition); or, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic” by Matt Cox. The play follows the events of a particular seven years when one well-known boy wizard attended a well-known magic school and fought against forces-of-evil-that-must-not-be-named. But this isn’t that boy’s story: it’s the story of the Puffs, who happened to be there too.
A hilarious, fast-paced romp through a familiar magical landscape, “Puffs” is “a tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.” Auditions are open to adults and high school-aged teens on Monday, Jan. 27, and Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Franklin High School. Performances are April 3-6 at the Franklin Middle School.
Next, Footlight will hold auditions for its summer musical, “Rock of Ages,” on Tuesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 29. This big, brash jukebox musical is a celebration of the rock scene of the ‘80s, featuring songs like “We Built This City,” “I Wanna Rock,” and “Don’t Stop Believin.” Auditions are open to anyone 16 and older. Performances are Aug. 13-17 at Tilton School’s Hamilton Hall.
